Chances are that you usually drive slowly through this historic village of old cut-stone buildings because of the narrow bridge to the east, or the fear of receiving a ticket from the police officers who quite often use sections of the village as a speed trap. ![]() According to the Jamaica Nstional Heritage Trust: "Rio Bueno is a small town located near the border of Trelawny and St. Ann. The town was the subject of James Bartholomew Kidd's lithographic print of Rio Bueno, in 1835. It is believed that it was here that Christopher Columbus first landed, although Discovery Bay also makes claim to the honour. Rio Bueno with its fort, Fort Dundas, wharf houses, wharves and old churches reminds us of an old English village. It was here that "A High Wind in Jamaica" was filmed.
