There was a air of anticipation as we drove to the venue in St Mary to view artifacts that were unearthed in the past years by professionals headed by our very own, Dr Ivor Conolley.
As we arrived at the imposing gates of the property a sense of excitement of a great adventure filled the air. We were greeted at a lovely gazebo by the owner of the property, Mr David Wilson.
This was a great opportunity as we gathered together to create lasting memories, from group pictures to even selfies, to commemorate our visit.
Knowing that we were not all well fit to climb the small incline leading to the Museum, We felt the physical output was hard, but the reward as we arrived was a long cool drink and seeing the artifacts up close was really a wonderful treat.
David Wilson was a most gracious host, as he provided a lot of information about the site. followed by Dr Ivor Conolley gave an interesting presentation on His digs at The Rio Nuevo Village and Museum. Dr Ivor Conolley was the architect on the site, unearthing many of the items seen in the museum today. He provided dates and facts to substantiate his findings and it was very clear that these items were definitely from the Georgian era. It is safe to say that we were all impressed with the scope of these discoveries.
The day was completed with a delightful lunch on the Rio Neuvo river. A few members of the group provided wine, and food for all. It was just wonderful. A charming and elegant end to a fabulous day.
